What to look for
Check the size and contrast of the numbers, spacing and layout of the buttons. Large buttons alone do not determine whether a phone feels comfortable. The screen and the way you hold the phone matter too. Involve the user in choosing the controls.
Direct access to the buttons
On a phone without a flip cover, the screen and keypad are directly visible.
